Hello! My name is Johanna Voss, and I am a bilingual (Spanish) mental health counselor and marriage and family therapist with active licenses in both Indiana and California. Trained in several trauma treatment and response protocols (including EMDR, EMDR-PRECI, EMDR-IGTP-OTS, Seeking Safety, Psychological First Aid), I am passionate about offering best practice, collaborative, holistic and effective care to every client. It is an honor to witness the courage and growth of clients as they pursue growth, insight, and healing through counseling. Areas of specialty include the treatment of childhood developmental trauma, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, and premarital and marriage counseling. I consultant for Head Start Programs in East Central Indiana, and am a facilitator of Prepare/Enrich for couples. I offer therapy in person and via telehealth.
Prior to moving to Muncie, Indiana with my family in 2017, I lived most of my adult life in Los Angeles. On staff with an South LA urban non-profit for over a decade, I provided community based development services, and organizational training, assessment, and pastoral member care. Beginning in 2009 I shifted to focus exclusively on behavioral health and mental health practice. My clinical experience settings include: community mental health, private practice, federally qualified health centers and a substance abuse recovery center on Skid Row and in East Los Angeles.
My husband and I have four teen and young adult children and have been licensed foster parents. When I am not cheering on kids at various activities, I love to travel with our family off the beaten path, take long walks with friends, read mystery fiction, serve at our church, and eat cheesecake for breakfast.
